A. Vehlen is Lead Client Director, at Apex Group (“Apex”). He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants UK and holds a BSc degree in Accounting with Finance from the University of Mauritius. Vehlen has been with the organization for more than 15 years and has developed in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector coupled with practical know-how on the operating, regulatory and compliance aspects for global business entities.
Vehlen heads a team of 25, and currently oversees a portfolio of over 130 financial and non-financial services entities (including mutual funds, private equity funds, investment holding companies and trusts). He serves as a director of several global business companies.
Zakir is Head of Strategic Planning at Apex. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK. He is also a Chartered Secretary from the UK Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of accounting and finance. Prior to Apex, he was the Financial Accountant of a textile manufacturing company where he worked for more than 6 years.
He has also worked for a medium sized firm of chartered accountants. He previously led a team of 18 people having the responsibility for a portfolio of more than 150 entities, including collective investment schemes, closed-end funds, investment holding companies, trusts, foundations and domestic companies before taking the role of Head of Strategic Planning. He has been exposed to the main areas of the industry including legal, tax, administration and corporate secretarial fields. He sits on the Board of a number of global business companies.
Jema is an Associate Manager at Apex and oversees a team of 5 people having a diversified portfolio of financial and non-financial services entities. She is a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of UK, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Mauritius. She also has a Master’s degree in International Business Management from the University of Mauritius.
She has been with the organization for more than 8 years and has developed in depth knowledge of the financial services sector coupled with practical know-how on the operating, regulatory and compliance aspects for global business entities. She has been exposed to the main areas of the industry including legal, tax, accounting, financial reporting, administration and corporate secretarial fields.
Johanna is Founder and Managing Partner at Elevar. She leads the firm’s investing strategy and priorities in Latin America, and the firm’s investing team that is based in Mexico City. Her leadership role in Latin America includes sourcing and underwriting of new investment opportunities, portfolio management, partnering with entrepreneurs to achieve scale, while actively supporting the firm’s India investing team.
Johanna has over 20 years of work experience that includes emerging markets investing experience, macroeconomics, microfinance and financial services, corporate finance and economics. She founded Elevar in 2008 and has partnered with, and invested in, companies which are today some of the biggest providers of financial services, MSME oriented services and education to disconnected communities in India and Latin America.
Amie is a Partner at Elevar and leads the firm’s organizational and operating functions. Her responsibilities include organizational development, talent, strategy, business development and systems / processes. She also manages and cultivates Elevar’s global partnerships including LP and co-investor relations.
Amie has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of organizations, with a focus on emerging market investing. Amie holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BS in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She serves as the Finance Chair on the Board of Education Through Music, a New York based non-profit focused on music education.
